Iowa-Based Option

Nationwide Option

10 - 15 interns will be matched for the Iowa Based Option.

The interns in the Iowa Based option are assigned to supervised practice sites across the state of Iowa including: Ames/Des Moines, Marshalltown, Omaha/Council Bluffs, Mason City, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Burlington, Davenport/Quad Cities area; perhaps Ottumwa, Sioux City, and the Southwest Iowa District Dietetics Association.

*Interns are required to be in Ames, Iowa for the week of Orientation (8 days) and Iowa City for the week of Clinical Beginnings and Jean Inman Review Course (8 days).

NOTE: Do not assume you will be placed in the Ames/Des Moines area. The Ames/Des Moines area includes Fort Dodge, Grinnell, Marshalltown and other facilities within a one-hour drive.

NOTE: The program faculty have identified qualified preceptors throughout the state of Iowa. Although these preceptors have agreed to work with the program, actual participation per internship class may change due to the fluctuating demands of the real-world work place. If you are selected into this program, you may be assigned to a preceptor location not previously listed in these materials or that you did not select. Of course, you have the option to decline the appointment if you are not satisfied with your assigned location.

10 - 15 interns will be matched for the Nationwide Option.

For those interested in completing the Dietetic Internship in their own geographic location, the Iowa State University Dietetics Internship is able to offer a completely nationwide education format to qualified applicants. This means that the student may complete the DI where they live - they do not need to move to Iowa to complete the program.

*Interns are required to be in Ames, Iowa for the week of Orientation (8 days) and Iowa City for the week of Clinical Beginnings and Jean Inman Review Course (8 days). Arrangements for transportation, meals, and lodging during these days are the responsibility of the intern.
